Our History
Our school opened its doors in September 2004. The preschool was started by St. Gregory the Great Church in an effort to reach out to the community.
The program began with one multi-age classroom composed of three and four year old children. There was one head teacher, two assistants, and a director.
Our school is a non profit institution and is licensed by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services.
The philosophy of the school is still to provide a developmentally appropriate environment for children and to assist parents in their parenting skills within a safe, loving and nurturing Christian environment that fosters a love of learning.

Our Philosophy
Saint Gregory the Great Early Childhood Enrichment Program looks upon the field of child development as a total educational experience in which administrators, teachers, and parents are partners in education, working collaboratively in all aspects of a child’s growth and development.
We believe that children ages 3 to 4 are learning all the time, and will discover knowledge through active involvement and interaction.
It is our goal, therefore, to provide an early childhood enrichment program which is educationally based, and provides age appropriate activities that focus on the stages of each child’s cognitive, social, emotional, cultural and physical needs.

We create a spirit of joyfulness in the learning process in order to encourage and motivate each child to realize their full potential.
ABOUT Saint Gregory the Great
Choosing a preschool for your child is an exciting time! Families like you are looking for a preschool for young children where they can feel connected, challenged, safe, stimulated, and happy. Saint Gregory the Great Early Childhood Enrichment Program is that special place that children and parents have come to know and love.
We are a top-quality early childhood program with a respected reputation in Harrison and its surrounding communities. We provide a warm and loving environment for children to experience the joys and wonders of childhood. We realize how important the early years of your child’s life are in the development of positive attitudes about learning and it is our goal to give your child many opportunities to experience success.
At Saint Gregory the Great, we strive to create an atmosphere where children feel comfortable in taking chances and risks, which is always a springboard for learning. Our ultimate goal is to see each child in our program reach his or her full potential. To be fully successful, we realize we cannot do this alone, students need not only support from their teachers, but from their parents or guardians as well. This means showing an interest in what they do in school, taking a few minutes to go over their work, or listening to them speak about their daily activities at school. These actions show your child how highly you value education. It also shows them that teachers and parents are partners in their education.
Children ages three to four are learning all the time---and they learn best by being active. The most important goals of our preschool program are for children to get along well with others and become enthusiastic learners. We want them to become independent, self confident, curious learners who can work well with others. Through the activities our highly qualified staff plans and the way they organize their classrooms, select toys and materials, plan the daily schedule, and talk with children, they seek to accomplish the goals of our preschool curriculum and give children a successful start in school. We extend an invitation to both you and your child to come experience Saint Gregory the Great Early Childhood Program.
